--Orig Post--

Ok, so I've been quiet for a while... sick of feeling like I was being battered down every time I spoke or suggested something but here I am, doing it again... it may piss some of you off, it may please you but what you have to admit, is that by putting my cock on the block, once again... I'm a legend!

So... here it is...

Cricket...

Why don't we have a game of cricket?

We can get as many players as you like - not limited to 12 or 14, and uneven numbers isn't such an issue... we can invite TTFE regulars, non-regulars, backups, historical figures, sevenF, friends of (who aren't knobs!) etc. Within reason, I recon we don't want more than 20-a-side... it's not likely that we'll get numbers that high anyway.

Even teams don't matter so much (we can score based on average score per player.

I have a cricket set (bat and stumps) but we'd probably need some spare tennis balls (I'm not expecting a full setup of pads and proper balls)... I plan on hitting a load of 6's though (whatever that means) so we'd need spares.

We can play at hunter's green.

We need someone who knows the rules to cricket and can help us orchestrate a game that only lasts a few hours (rather than days!)

I need some positive thinking and help organising it... Kitty involvement? Could charge £1 per player to purchase stuff if we play this every now and then...

Teams... well.. not really important at this stage but I recon Callum 'the Barbarian' Botham should captain of one of them!

Stats?

Sure if you want... I personally don't give a monkey but Cricket is a game that lends it's self well to someone writing crap down!

Come on then... let the Chris' Idea bashing commence... GO GO GO!

Also...

Like football, I don't really like watching cricket, or golf, I just like taking part...

Ooooh... what about a TTFE golf open? Greg is favourite to win I reckon unless we open this up to SevenF too... Perks a bit of a player?

Yes, yes... I like what you've done here... you're running with the idea... at the moment, it's a 1 on 1 game (which is pretty rubbish for softball) but still... I'm in if we can set the date?

Only one thing to say here...

Why is this in the TTFE thread, not the General thread?!?!

Stop coming up with crap ideas and putting them in the wrong section! Wink

Cricket - Haven't played cricket in a while but enjoyed it back at school. I saw a Kwik Cricket set the other day and got all nostalgic. Up for this if interest is there Smile

Golf - I would love to play to a round a golf fairly soon, haven't been to the ranges in ages and miss it. If anyone does fancy 18 holes sometime soon I'd be game.

Softball/baseball - Too American for me

Women's baseball - Too American and feminine for me

Tiddlywinks - Yay! Something I could possibly win!

So you're happy to get excited about Kwik Cricket (a child’s version of cricket) and also a game of cricket involving tennis balls, yet you are worried about playing something that may be "feminine" ?

Softball derived from Baseball derived from Rounder’s... a British game? Very American indeed.

Bat and ball sports (cricket, baseball, softball, rounders) - Yes
Club sport (golf) - Yes
Tiddlywinks - No

3rd August is the date... who's in for it?
