Ok...

Let's take a look...

Let's have a look at in-team battles first.

Red Bull - Vettel, Webber
Vettel. I think the Championship will calm him and hopefully make him mature. Webber cannot mature any more... he should be fired

McLaren - Hamilton, Button
Hamilton.

Ferrari - Alonso, Massa
Alonso.

Mercedes - Schumacher, Rosberg
Schumey. Although Rosberg is a damned good driver and gave Schumacher a pasting last year, Schumacher after a year back in and having done testing for a year (although not as much as they used to in the old days) will be much better.... that said... this is a close one... hard to call... I still can't bet against the GOAT.

Renault - Kubica, Petrov
Well... this was going to be an easy on but I guess with the recent news. I can't call it... it depends on who replaces Kubica, how long term it is etc.

Williams - Barrichello, Maldonado
Maldonado. New but can't be worse than Moanichello!

Force India - Sutil, Di Resta
Sutil - He's not so bad and has more experience than Di Resta (who sounds like he's going to rest for most of the season!)

Sauber - Kobayashi, Perez
Hard to call.... Kobayashi... but only because the new boys very rarely upstage their team-mates... I'm betting fairly safely here.. well... if betting on Kobayashi could be called that!

Toro Rosso - Buemi, Algesari
Algesari - I rate him, he's good!

Lotus - Trulli, Kovalainen
Kovalainen... best of a bad bunch I guess

HRT - Karthikayan, ?
errr... a choice of 1? Ok I'll go for Karthikayan for now then.

Virgin - Glock, d'Ambrosio
Glock... He's good!

So... how well do I think the team's will do?

Teams
1. Red Bull - Newey's car?
2. McLaren - Button is a good tester (these days) and McLaren take things on board well!
3. Ferrari - Alonso is a great tester
4. Mercedes - Shuey is the best tester but starting with a bad car!
5. Renault - Would have been higher from what I've heard but lack of Kubica = lack of faith from me!
6. Force India
7. Williams
8. Sauber
9. Toro Rosso
10. Lotus
11. Virgin
12. HRT

Drivers
1. Hamilton - McLaren
2. Vettel - Red Bull
3. Alonso - Ferrari
4. Button - McLaren
5. Schumacher - Mercedes
6. Massa - Ferrari
7. Rosberg - Mercedes
8. Webber - Red Bull
9. Petrov - Renault
10. Sutil - Force India

What say you?

Heidfeld to replace Kubica for this season I reckon... that does change my previous post though... as the tyre testing man, I think he could be good in a decent Renault!

Non F1 fan in peace

Gents please can I have your thoughts on this. I have been following this story with some bizarre curiosity.

Fake rain? Seriously?

Let me tell you that I would really like to get into F1. Seriously, I would. But it is stuff like this that makes me think that it is a rich man's playground where these crazy ideas can surface.

My feelings for this are compounded by this quote from the[url] Beeb[/urlhttp://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9413796.stm]:

Ecclestone suggested the sprinklers could be switched on with no more than a two-minute warning to ensure suspense.

"I'm happy to make it happen," the 80-year-old told the BBC on Thursday.

"My idea is that we should make a programme that nobody knows exactly which programme is going to be used and it would start at some time during the race. It would be raining effectively.

"It would maybe stop and maybe rain again later. Or maybe not. So nobody would know."

WTF!??! So someone at F1 can play God? I know rain happens at random times, but surely giving someone the responsibility of 'rain' will create problems in ensuring fairness, possible bias and integrity? But as an non-F1 fan, I guess I see this through a narrowed set of eyes.

This idea will never be taken seriously by the teams or drivers. It's ludicrous! It just won't happen.
